SPARKS FORWARDS CANDACE PARKER AND NNEKA OGWUMIKE NAMED TO ALL-WNBA FIRST AND SECOND TEAMS

Los Angeles Sparks forwards Candace Parker and Nneka Ogwumike were named to the All-WNBA First Team and Second Team, respectively, it was announced today by the WNBA.

Named to the All-WNBA First Team, Parker earns her third consecutive nod of her career. Parker finished the 2014 season averaging a team-high 19.4 points, 1.8 steals, 4.3 assists and 1.4 blocks to go along with her 7.1 rebounds (tied team-high) per game.

Joining Parker on the First Team is Minnesota Lynx forward Maya Moore, Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi and first-time honorees Tulsa Shock guard Skylar Diggins and Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner.

Earning the first honor of her three-year career, Ogwumike was named to the All-WNBA Second Team. Tallying 11 games scoring 20+ points or more, Ogwumike finished the season averaging 15.8 points and a tied team-high 7.1 rebounds per game.

Also receiving Second Team nods are Minnesota Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen, Atlanta Dream forward Angel McCoughtry and center Tina Charles of the New York Liberty. San Antonio Stars Danielle Robinson and Seimone Augustus of the Lynx tallied 27 points each to qualify for the Second Team at the guard position.

Voting for the All-WNBA First and Second Teams was conducted by a panel of 38 national and local sportswriters and broadcasters at the conclusion of the regular season. Players were selected by position and received five points for each First Team vote and three points for each Second Team designation.

In honor of being named to the All-WNBA First and Second Teams, each player will receive a Tiffany & Co. designed trophy. In addition, $10,000 will be awarded to each member of the First Team, while each member of the Second Team will receive $5,000.
